Departmental Objectives

Department of Computer Science was started in year 2011. The study plan of programs offered at Department of CS are in line with HEC guidelines and approved by HEC. The first batch of Department of CS graduated in 2016 and is now well placed in various organizations. Bachelor degree programs offered by Department of Computer Science impart to the student’s necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to design, develop and manage computer infrastructures, networks, and software. Our bachelor’s degree of CS is a four -years program and involve coursework that focuses on principles, applications, methods and theories that enable Information and Computing Technologies. Students are also inculcated teamwork through team projects that emphasize industrial applications and best practices. Student’s educational experience is further enriched by General Education courses that provide student with a useful perspective on cultural, political, scientific and economic issues. At Department of CS, students are exposed to mandatory supervised internship, laboratory studies and a senior thesis to fulfill practical experience requirements. Our program blends theory and applications of subject area to prepare students for myriad of Computer Science careers in industry, government, and academia.

Provide quality education in theoretical and applied foundations of Computer Science and educate students to become successful ethical and effective problem solvers and lifelong learners who can apply their skills to solve real world problems.

The Department will become a leader in Computer Science and related domains by building a strong teaching and research environment to train and transform young men and women into responsible and successful professionals who can proactively engage themselves for the betterment of the society.

Graduates of the undergraduate program in Computer Science are expected to attain the following objectives within a few years of graduation:

1– Succeed in their chosen profession by applying computational and analytical approaches of Computer Science to solve real life problems.

2– Successfully engage in life-long learning in cross-disciplinary domains such as Bioinformatics, Business Analytics etc.

3– Exhibit high professional ethical standards to become productive leaders in society.

4– Successfully launch themselves as young entrepreneurs enabling a knowledge-based economy.

The program must enable students to attain, by the time of graduation:

a– An ability to apply knowledge of computing and mathematics appropriate to the program’s student outcomes and to the discipline.

b– An ability to analyze a problem, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution.

c– An ability to design, implement, and evaluate a computer-based system, process, component, or program to meet desired needs.

d– An ability to function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal.

e– An understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and responsibilities.

f– An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

g– An ability to analyze the local and global impact of computing on individuals, organizations, and society.

h– Recognition of the need for and an ability to engage in continuing professional development.

i– An ability to use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice.

j– An ability to apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and computer science theory in the modeling and design of computer-based systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the tradeoffs involved in design choices.
